There are many buildings in Ireland, both residential and commercial, that are of significant historic and cultural significance. These buildings require regular maintenance in the same way that all buildings do, however other factors come into play when carrying out this work. Conservation principles must be kept in mind:
- Many of these buildings have been around for generations and it is our responsibility, as custodians, to ensure that we pass them on to future generations, in good repair
- Any work that is carried out on these buildings should be in keeping with the existing building, and should in no way damage the special qualities of that building.
